e-Commerce For The Outdoor Power Equipment Industry

Introduction - Since 1996, the Outdoor Power Equipment Industry has cooperatively developed industry standards for Electronic Commerce under the leadership of the OPEI's e-Commerce Committee. The result has been e-commerce standards for use among manufacturers, dealers, and distributors. The scope of these transactions covers ordering and invoicing for whole goods and service parts, and the filing of warranty claims and product registrations. The original communications technology target for these standards was Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), a widely implemented means of linking remote computers for data exchange. Recently, the committee's focus has shifted to Internet technology and the use of Web Services.
