Commercial Turf Care Equipment Shipments Show Substantial Gain For FY98
Alexandria, VA November 1998 - Shipment estimates for model year 1998 (September 1, 1997 through August 31, 1998) for Commercial Turf Care Equipment have been developed by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI). Shipments of commercial walk-behind units were 97,400 for FY98 compared to 91,140 in FY97, an increase of 7%. Shipments of commercial riding units were 65,100 for FY98 compared to 52,400 in FY97, an increase of 24%. These estimates represent total industry shipments destined to U.S. markets only.
OPEI is a trade association whose membership is primarily composed of U.S. manufacturers of lawn and garden maintenance products, components and attachment supplies, as well as industry related services. OPEI's domestic members manufacture in excess of 95% of the U.S. consumer retail market for gas and electric powered lawn and garden maintenance products.
