SHIPMENTS OF LAWN AND GARDEN PRODUCTS SHOW AND INCREASE FOR MODEL YEAR 2000

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA, NOVEMBER 2000 - Twelve-month industry shipment of key lawn and garden products increased for the 2000 model year. All product categories showed increases for the model year with total shipments at 8,254,860 units, an increase of 4.2% from the 1999 model year. The model year for these products was September 1, 1999 to August 31, 2000, and the industry estimates represent shipments destined to U.S. Markets only.

OPEI is a trade association whose membership is primarily composed of U.S. manufacturers of powered lawn and garden maintenance products, components and attachment supplies, as well as industry related services. OPEIís domestic members manufacture in excess of 95% of the U.S. consumer retail market for gas and electric powered lawn and garden maintenance products.
