CONSUMERS TO SEE ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS OF OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT ON PBS

March 2001, Alexandria, Virginia -- Coming soon to PBS stations across the country is a five-minute industry image segment sponsored by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI). Bill Harley, President and CEO of OPEI says, "We're proud of our industry and we're pleased to have this excellent opportunity to spread the word to consumers about the many new environmentally-friendly products now on the market."

Created for the PBS "Spotlight On" program, this five-minute video focuses on the industry's latest technological advances leading to environmental benefits for consumers. It features a wide range of products including both gas and battery-powered equipment in categories ranging from walk-behind mowers and riding mowers to handheld equipment such as chain saws and leaf blowers. Viewers will be entertained and educated and gain a positive viewpoint of the outdoor power equipment industry. The video was distributed in mid-March, 2001 via satellite feed to PBS stations nationwide.

OPEI is a trade association whose membership is primarily composed of U.S. manufacturers of powered lawn and garden maintenance products, components and attachment supplies, as well as industry related services. OPEI's domestic members manufacture in excess of 95% of the U.S. consumer retail market for gas and electric powered lawn and garden maintenance products.
