JOHN P. MOWDER ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF THE OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT INSTITUTE

Ponte Vedra, Florida, June 22, 2001ÑJohn P. Mowder, President, Dixon Industries, Inc. was elected Chairman of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI) during the AssociationÕs 49th Annual Meeting in Ponte Vedra, Florida.

Mr. Mowder has served in his present position as President of Dixon Industries, Inc. since 1996. He began his career with the company in 1976 and has held positions of increasing responsibility since that time. These include a position in sales, during which he traveled worldwide; Marketing Manager; Vice President of Marketing; and, just prior to being named President, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager.

A native of Coffeyville, Kansas, Mr. Mowder earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1976.

The Chairman of OPEI has a one-year term in accordance with OPEI bylaws.

Mr. Mowder has served on the OPEI Board of Directors since 1997 and has been Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee and, most recently, OPEI's Secretary/Treasurer. He also serves as President of the Board of Directors of Dixon Industries, Inc.

OPEI is a trade association whose membership is primarily composed of U.S. manufacturers of powered lawn and garden maintenance products, components and attachment supplies, as well as industry-related services. OPEI's domestic members manufacture in excess of 95% of the U.S. consumer retail market for gas and electric powered lawn and garden maintenance products.
