L.E. (ED) SHULTZ ELECTED SECRETARY/TREASURER OF THE OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT INSTITUTE

Ponte Vedra, Florida, June 22, 2001ÑL.E. (Ed) Shultz, CEO of Murray, Inc., was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI) during the AssociationÕs 49th Annual Meeting in Ponte Vedra, Florida.

Mr. Shultz joined Tomkins PLC in 1992, as President and CEO of Smith & Wesson Corporation. In 1994, he was promoted to President of Tomkins' Professional Garden and Leisure Group which included Murray, Inc. and Hayter Limited, a UK-based mower manufacturer, as well as Smith & Wesson. He has continued as CEO of Murray since the acquisition of Murray by Summersong Investments in October of 2000.

Before joining Tomkins PLC, Mr. Shultz served three years as president of the HON Company, the office furniture manufacturer. And prior to that he spent ten years at Lozier Corporation fixturing retail stores during the 1980's rapid growth of the U.S. retailing industry. For six of those ten years, he was president of the company

Mr. Shultz is an engineering graduate of the Iowa State University and he is a registered professional engineer.

Mr. Shultz has served on the OPEI Board of Directors since 1995 and was the 1996/97 Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee.

The Secretary/Treasurer of OPEI oversees the financial activities of the trade association and serves as Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee. Mr. Shultz's term is for one year in accordance with OPEI bylaws.

OPEI is a trade association whose membership is primarily composed of U.S. manufacturers of powered lawn and garden maintenance products, components and attachment supplies, as well as industry-related services. OPEI's domestic members manufacture in excess of 95% of the U.S. consumer retail market for gas and electric powered lawn and garden maintenance products.
